Focus: Blessed to Advance Pt1
Text: 1 Chronicles 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.
The Lord shall hearken to the voice of our supplication and bless our endeavours for great advancement. He will take you higher and better until you’re more honourable than your peers. Amen
Wisdom for LIFE is a Divine mandate, drawing inspirations from the word by exploring key spheres of life and enabling everyone to live a balanced life.
In the beginning, God made man and gave him a work to do. He was expected to till the ground and make it better. By this, he was commissioned to advance the work of creation.
A fundamental factor that made man to command advancement is the blessing of fruitfulness and multiplication, which remained in force through fellowship with God.
However, struggles and sorrows began to slow down man’s advancement when the fellowship was cut off through disobedience. Man’s pursuits began to be hard labour because the blessing was missing.
Just like Jabez story has shown us, advancement is made possible by blessings through prayers on the platform of genuine fellowship with God. He called on His God, he became more honourable than his peers.
We can better appreciate this message through the experience of Mr. Tade, a computer programmer, who was so dutiful with his daily job. He resumes to work punctually and executes his daily tasks dutifully.
He worked so hard for his company but it didn’t seem like he was recognised for his efforts. He kept working and wondering what might be wrong that he was not been adequately rewarded.
After he had been working for nearly five years, Mr. Seyi was appointed into the company. He didn’t work as hard as Mr. Tade but he was getting more promotions and recognitions from the boss.
After a while, Mr. Tade began to monitor Mr. Seyi’s work and observed that he was closer to the boss and enjoyed a good relationship with him. He was always seeking for his advice.
As a result of his observation, Mr. Tade began to move closer to the boss and instead of doing things like he knew everything, he inquired for advice and inputs. At other times, he shares his ideas.
The relationship between Mr. Tade and his boss became cordial and because of this, he began to excel more at his work. The boss began to see his the brightness in him and he developed interest in him.
Soon afterwards, the boss promoted him to the post of MD and gave him numerous recognitions and awards.
So you see, advancement in our life pursuits isn’t by hard work, it’s by the blessing of the Lord. His blessing is made available to us on the platform of relationship with Him.
Begin at once to cultivate or sustain your good relationship with God and keep your heart open to always receive His blessings. As you do, you’ll begin to advance in all your pursuits. Amen
