Eternal means a perpetual existence that does not have a beginning or end. God, as our Eternal Father, does not have a beginning or end. He has always been and will always be. In this life, our circumstances will often change, sometimes even on a whim, and amid the chaos, we need assurance. The Eternal Father is the assurance we need since his character will never change. He is the same today, tomorrow, and forever.
As an individual, I would say that I have changed a lot over the last year. Some of the changes I have experienced are good, and some of which are bad. One alarming aspect of the change I have
undergone is my health. Before the pandemic, I was a gym rat. Every weekday, I was at the gym to keep my body fit. Now, I struggle to reclaim what I once had. While I still exercise every weekday, it has been a challenge to see the same results I once saw. I assume it has to do with the quarantine stress food I still indulged in. I’m glad that even amid my constant evolution, God is not evolving. He is the same, consistently.
The consistency of God is probably the most appealing attribute I am drawn to as a Christian. Knowing that I serve a God who does not change gives me a great deal of comfort. Everything around me may vary, but as long as I have consistency in my relationship with God, I know I will be all right. Can you say the same? I understand that the changes I have gone through over last year are not exclusive to me; it is widespread. The world as we know it has disappeared, and we are faced with a new and changing landscape. Let me encourage you to look to God, who never changes. He is the Eternal Father, who has always been and will forever be.
