Guide Into All Truth (John 16:13). Or Forgotten God. Which best describes the Holy Spirit in my life? A multiple-choice question, and “somewhere in the middle” is not a choice. If I had to select from only these two choices, which one would it be?

FORGOTTEN GOD IN THE AMERICAN CHURCH (excerpt from Forgotten God)

There is a big gap between what we read in Scripture about the Holy Spirit, and how most American churches operate today. The Church’s “entertainment” model has filled our churches with self-focused consumers, rather than self-sacrificing servants attuned to the Holy Spirit. For all the changes, we have a sense that something very important is still missing. Could the missing something actually be a missing Someone—namely, the Holy Spirit [1]?

FORGOTTEN GOD IN THE AMERICAN CHRISTIAN (excerpt from Forgotten God)

It is the Spirit that sets us free from the sins we cannot get rid of on our own [2]. There should be a huge difference between the person who has the Spirit of God living within, and the person who does not. I am just not convinced that we have internalized this truth, and enjoyed the Spirit’s blessings, as He intended. If the Church awoke tomorrow to discover that the Holy Spirit no longer resides within, most believer’s lives wouldn’t look much different. We don’t need more cerebral knowledge of the Spirit—we need more experiential knowledge of His presence [3].

MORE EXPERIENTIAL KNOWLEDGE OF HIS PRESENCE

In A Way of Escape, readers are introduced to a novel approach for experiencing the Spirit’s intimate presence. Readers learn how to build a library of Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps that are uniquely fitted to them, and their unique Spirit-filling triggers. Apps with infinite shelf life that may be accessed, and immersed in, at any time the reader desires the Spirit’s intimate sheltering presence.

THE HOLY SPIRIT—GUIDE INTO ALL TRUTH OR FORGOTTEN GOD?

The Bible tells us much of the Character and Person of both God, and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. But most believers know comparatively little of the Character and Person of the Holy Spirit. This despite the fact that soon after Jesus ascended into heaven He sent the Holy Spirit to comfort (John 16:7), and to guide believers into all truth (John 16:13). Limited in their understanding of His intended role in their lives, too many believers are failing to tap into their Primary Power Source, the Holy Spirit. As a result, to both their and the Church’s loss, too many are failing to realize anywhere near their full potential as Christians. As Francis Chan has so famously stated:

… we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and we are reaping the disastrous results … (let us) stop and remember the One we’ve forgotten, the Spirit of the living God [4].

Guide Into All Truth (John 16:13). Or Forgotten God: Dear reader, if these are your only two choices, which best describes the Holy Spirit in your life?

A GAME-CHANGING BOOK HAS ARRIVED

In A Way of Escape, readers learn how to step up the degree to which they “walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16). They learn how to build a library of Spirit-anointed, flesh-diffusing apps. Apps that are uniquely fitted to them, and their unique Spirit-filling triggers.

The still-struggling now have another option. The still-struggling now have fresh hope for discovering that long-sought-after way of escape from sin and temptation (I Corinthians 10:13). A way that–because it is wholly Spirit-powered–does not require enlisting the aid of an accountability partner or group. Truly a game-changer!
