Life can sometimes present us with tough times that shake our faith to the core. If we are not rooted in our relationship with God, we can begin to question whether God cares about our predicament. Interestingly, God can seem silent when one is going through hardships, and this can lead to disillusionment. At such a time, a person can view God as distant and uninterested. But is this the truth? No.
God walks beside you in tough times
God has promised in Psalm 23:4 that He will be with you even when you are in the darkest valley. When you are going through hard times, you need to remember what God says in His word so that you will not be anxious and fearful. Once anxiety fills your heart, you will fall for the temptation to sort things out in your strength, forgetting that God is there to help you.
Trials test your faith
Trials have a way of making you question your faith, especially when you don’t see answers to your prayers. In such a moment, you may believe that God is mad at you or is punishing you. Some people believe that God has abandoned them to face their troubles alone. It’s at this point that many people look for coping mechanisms to help them deal with the pain of their trauma. Some turn to alcohol, drugs, and various addictions. Others fall into depression or revert to past behaviors from which God delivered them.
You will emerge victoriously
We are to rejoice when we face trials because they produce maturity and strength in us (James 1:2-3). They test our faith, and if we hold on to God, we will emerge victoriously. Jesus never promised us a problem-free life, but He did promise to help us overcome our problems.
In John 16:33, Jesus says that you will have trouble in this world but you shouldn’t worry because He has overcome the world. This means that He will help you overcome your tough times. In addition to this, He will give you His peace that surpasses human understanding.
Trust in the Lord
Many people wonder why they are going through tough times. It’s common to hear the question, “Why me?” It is disheartening when you don’t know why you are experiencing a season of hardship. Rest in Proverbs 3:5-6 that says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
God knows why you are going through a hard time and will help you come out stronger. Thank Him because He will turn it around for your good. He will turn it into a testimony that will bless the lives of others. God never wastes your experiences and therefore you shouldn’t be stuck in a victim mentality feeling helpless. Renew your mind with God’s word and claim His promises for your life. God will always be your hope and salvation. You can put your trust in Him.
