I Have Water

Rarely have I ever been so happy to turn the faucet on and see water flow from the spout, but today I was elated. See, I forgot to pay my water bill last month, and it was shut off. Yep, one mistake caused me to go without water, and it was lousy. You do not realize how much of our lives revolve around this fantastic resource, cooking, cleaning, drinking, brushing your teeth, and, most notably, making coffee.

All jokes aside, water is essential to our everyday life. Without it, we will die. As I was contemplating how important water is, a thought hit me, as important as water is, Living Water is much more important.

Numerous places in the Bible we read of the Living Water Jesus provides. John 4:10 NIV says, “Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”
‭‭
In this passage, Jesus is speaking to a woman drawing water at a well. She is a woman of undesirable standing in her community. One that most people of the time would have overlooked, yet Jesus went out of His way to lead her to the truth of His forgiveness and grace.

See, in this verse, Jesus spoke to her about His Living Water. The water that quenches the soul and draws you closer to God Himself. The Living Water that Jesus offers is the peace of God that passes understanding as stated in Philippians 4:7. It encompasses all the promises of God that you are entitled to as children of God. It is the infilling of the Holy Spirit. This living water is priceless.

Unfortunately, His living water is no more free than the water in my town. The difference is, Jesus paid the price for us to obtain this Living water; therefore, the only payment required of you is the choice to accept this free gift.

By making a choice to accept Jesus into your heart, you are opening the door for Living Waters to flow in and through you.

The Bible tells us, “On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” ‭‭John‬ ‭7:37-38‬ ‭

God has set before us the ability to be overflowing with His spirit. Unfortunately, just as our natural water can be shut off for lack of payment, the payment for your lifelong water will never be paid if you do not choose to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

The truth is, although going without physical water was inconvenient, missing out on Living Water has eternal consequences. Consequences that can be avoided by making one simple decision, a decision that changes your life for the better.

The truth is, the decision rests on each and every person. Unlike my water bill, our eternal bill has already been paid in full. It is our choice whether we want to accept this gift or not. What do you choose?

Father,

We humbly come before you and thank you for your willingness to pay our bill and provide us with a Living Water that sustains our soul. We pray each person reading this post will be filled and refilled with your Living Water to the point where it overflows. Amen
