In my book, _Once There Was a Girl: A Memoir_, I share my story of growing up in abject poverty, and yet persevering. However, despite our lack in many areas, my family and I had access to water.
Recently, as I was showering, I started to think about the severe water shortage faced by many around the world. I imagined not being able to have a glass or a bottle of water when I am thirsty. Also, I thought of not being able to shower or bathe for days (or for some undetermined time). As I reflected, I felt so grateful for water. Imagine no water!
In short, let’s pray for the people around the globe who are thirsty as we grab our bottles of water. Pray for the people who are not able to bathe as we take showers. Pray for the people who see water as a luxury as we let the water run for baths or for washing dishes. And again, imagine no water!
