If you were granted an extra 5 seconds, how would you spend it? Such a small amount of time may seem insignificant but has the potential to make a big difference to another person in need of Just 5.
What if we Just Take 5 Seconds to Give? “Give what?” you may be asking. Perhaps sharing something as simple as 5 seconds of thoughtfulness. How can giving up 5 seconds of your day benefit another? A genuine desire to graciously “Give Just 5 seconds” to enrich a person’s day is purely an extension of God’s grace that He has faithfully given to us, like 5 seconds of breath for life.
1 Peter 4:10-11 teaches: “Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God…if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything.”
My 5 seconds or your 5 seconds on any given day still belong to the Lord, provided as a gift to each one of us to enjoy with gratitude and even used to serve others for the glory of God. The Lord can provide the desire and awareness to share a quick but thoughtful gesture or timely word or helpful act of grace.
What are some simple ways that you can Just Take 5 Seconds to Give to another? I’ve provided some ideas below to get you started…
- Present a smile with a spoken hello or a friendly wave.
- Kindly hold open a door for a person to enter or exit a building.
- Patiently allow another vehicle to merge in front of you on the road.
- Pick something up off the floor that another has dropped to give back to them.
- Offer your seat on the bus to another who is standing.
Now it’s your turn…Just Take 5 Seconds to Give! Remember…it doesn’t take much to make a big difference for another person on an ordinary day. Who knows? Your 5-second act of grace may be what spurs someone else to Just Take 5 Seconds to Give.
