What was that? I hear something outside. They might break-in! Call the police! I just heard gunshots! Hit the floor! I am too scared to go to bed. I was so fearful.
I said the previous sentences to Mama daily. As a child, I was plagued by fear from the moment I awakened to the time that I went to bed. Fear and I were well-acquainted with each other. I did not want to know fear. But somehow, fear knew me.
In response, Mama daily encouraged me to pray, read the Bible, and trust God. Mama often informed me that she was not afraid at all. Based upon her example, I believe that Mama was not afraid although, as an adult, she really knew what was going on in our crime-ridden neighborhood. Mama trusted God to keep us safe and He did.
And I encourage you not to be fearful. God is in control.
Mama’s favorite passage in the Bible, Psalm 23 comforts me still. May it also comfort you as you read it and hopefully, memorize it. Please check out my book posted on my website, https://www.wendyreedrandall.com/. Blessings
