My post this week was going to be something completely different. But as I sit here tonight, I am led to the important topic of our choices.
What matters most in life is following the Lord Jesus Christ and His commands. We are going to carefully look at forgiveness and what the word of God says about the importance of it. According to Mark 11:25 KJV, Jesus says, “And when you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespass.” The words of Jesus have told us that we are to forgive anyone of anything. Therefore, no circumstance or person is left out.
When we are holding unforgiveness, we are holding that person hostage in our soul. Jesus is commanding us to forgive and release them out of our soul. When we hold unforgiveness in our heart, we are actually hurting ourselves. For further understanding, you can read the powerful verses in Matthew 18:21-35. Notice towards the end of these verses it says “You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me. Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you? And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. So My heavenly Father, also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”
What we are holding in our heart matters. Examining our heart daily is a good spiritual check-up. When we lay our head down on our pillow at night, have we forgiven anyone of anything?
Be blessed as you seek Him with all your heart!
