On 29 May 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay reached the highest mountain on earth, Mount Everest.
It is important to note that this was not the first attempt at standing 8848 meters above sea level. In fact, it was a race between countries.
Edmund, himself having to turn back on Mount Everest due to risk of losing lives, said these words.
“I will come again and conquer you because as a mountain you can’t grow, but as a human I can.”
Sir Edmund Hillary
What was it on top of the highest mountain that make mountaineers risk their lives?
The answer can be found in Teacher on the Mount book on Amazon.
“These words the Lord spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.”
Deuteronomy 5:22
Will you take the climb again and again to find a deeper perspective?
With love always,
Monique
