Do you need a gun to be safe or feel safe? How do guns keep you safe? These are questions that many of us have answered or will answer.
Violence is increasing. Fear is running rampant. We want to feel safe. For many, the answer is to purchase a gun. For others, the answer is I do not need a gun to feel safe. How do you feel?
Despite living in a violent and crime-ridden neighborhood for more than 17 years, we never had a gun in our home. My late mother (Mama) was adamant about our not needing to have a gun. She repeatedly affirmed that God would protect us. And God protected us in the now-defunct Florida Housing Projects for seventeen-plus years.  In my book, _Once There Was a Girl: A Memoir_, I share a story that illustrates God’s protection of our family.
The Lord is my light and my salvation;
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life;
Of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
