The Importance of Fellowship
1 John 1:3-4 The Message
We saw it, we heard it, and now we’re telling you so you can experience it along with us, this experience of communion with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. Our motive for writing is simply this: We want you to enjoy this, too. Your joy will double our joy!
When you take someone to a restaurant that you like, you want them to have a good experience like you have had in the past, right?
My favorite restaurant is Khan’s Grill, it’s a Mongolian BBQ restaurant in south Texas. If you’ve lived in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas you know this place. If you don’t know what Mongolian BBQ is, basically you pick your meat, vegetables and seasoning and they cook it all up together.
Several years back I was with some friends discussing where we should go eat. I said, Khan’s Grill, to which this one girl said, “EWWW GROSS!” I said, “What did you get there?” She said, “I don’t know, I guess a little of everything.” I said, “there’s your problem, you didn’t do it right.”
So I took several friends there and showed them step by step how to have the best Khan’s Grill experience. If you haven’t been here’s how it works: They give you 2 bowls. The first bowl is for noodles and vegetables.
The rookie mistake is to go for the long noodles, short noodles give more flavor per bite and are less messy. If you want to be healthy just fill it with bean sprouts, similar texture to noodles and they take on the flavor of whatever they’re cooked with.
The next bowl you put your meats in. Now, it’s tempting to get a little pork, a little beef, chicken, fish, sausage, etc. The problem is it’s all going to have the same seasoning so pick one meat and move on to the seasoning.
Now seasoning can be overwhelming with all the options they have. Here’s what you want to do, put a liberal amount of garlic powder and seasoned salt because it goes with just about anything then add a little of whatever else you want like sesame seeds or pepper.
Now they’re ready to cook it all up for you. But you have to pick what oil to cook it in. You can’t go wrong here, any option will work, I prefer butter.
Then they’re going to ask you what kind of sauce you want. I think there’s 15 sauces and you can combine them how you want, this is the biggest choice! What you want to do is choose the “House Sauce.” At the time of this story this was something you had to have known about from word of mouth, it wasn’t on the menu.
They finish cooking it up and then you stuff your face. I took 5 friends through this process with me. Two that were very skeptical now really enjoy the restaurant and 3 others that didn’t know all the tips about how to have the best Khan’s Grill experience, until that day. They had a new experience because I shared my experience.

Yes, I’m comparing my relationship with Jesus to Khans Grill.I know it’s a bit silly but you’ll probably remember this.
Anyway in the same way, when we are being taught from God’s Word and being blessed, we want to share it with others. We want to share what God’s doing in our lives. We want to share that experience with others and we want them to share their experience with us right?
I have found that when you are in fellowship growing with God, getting into His Word, then you will want to share it with fellow Christians. You will want to be around fellow believers.
