THE IMPORTANCE OF WHAT YOU DREAM
When you have a dream, what does it mean and what is the purpose of it? Our dreams can be from God, from Satan, or from something that influenced our spirit. We are spirit beings and our spirit never sleeps, and therefore, when we are sleeping our spirit is awake. We don’t see the spiritual world and the spiritual fight between good and evil, but it influences us. We need to discern what is going on in our spiritual walk with the LORD.
One way we receive messages is through our dreams, and it is important to discern and assess who the messages are coming from. I have learned when I wake up in the morning, and if I have dreamed, to try to immediately recall the dream. If I wait too long, the dream can sometimes fade away and I can’t recall it. The information from my dream may be giving me insight into my life. For example you can read Genesis 37:5-20 and see the insight Joseph received from his dream and later how it played out in his life.
The LORD has given me what I call “warning dreams”. The LORD has given me dreams and given me direction to avoid an upcoming potential pitfall. It has been a learning process to discern these dreams. But as I earnestly wrote my dreams down and prayed about them, the LORD revealed to me what they meant. It is best to let God tell us what our dreams mean. Because our dream interpretation can get confusing if we are asking various people what they mean and get various opinions when God will reveal to us what they mean.
Of course there are exceptions to this, God may reveal to our spouse a dream interpretation or someone He has specifically given to assist us. Our discernment will grow as we practice using it. For me personally, the more intentional I was seeking God about my dream interpretations, the clearer I understood them.
In our dreams, we can be making agreements with the evil kingdom and thus we need to discern and not ignore our dreams. We can make agreements in our dreams with the evil kingdom knowingly or unknowingly. We may have been enticed to make agreements with the evil kingdom in our dreams. It is important to pray off anything we may have been entertained or enticed to make with evil.
A prayer example would be: “I cancel any agreement I may have made knowingly or unknowingly, been entertained or enticed to make with the evil kingdom. I cut off any agreement I may have made with Satan and his evil kingdom. I cut it off at the root.” Amen.
