God has promised that there is a way of escape from every temptation (I Corinthians 10:13). Appealing to a second promise of Scripture, in the Way of Escape Battle Plan, the Holy Spirit is charged with leading the escape:

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).

A filling of the Spirit and a lust of the flesh can never occur at the same time (Galatians 5:16). The key to escape is identifying those places where a filling of the Spirit is experienced. And then regularly running to those places of Spirit-filling: (i) pre-emptively to clean neural pathways and renew the mind, and (ii) to counter attacks of the flesh in the heat of battle.

IDENTIFYING THOSE PLACES WHERE A SPIRIT-FILLING IS EXPERIENCED

My places of Spirit-filling? The Holy Spirit will often use emotion-charged images of Spirit-filled fellow believers to escort me into His presence. None are better at capturing these Spirit-filled fellow believers on camera than the Gaither Music Group. Numbered among The Homecoming Friends are many of whom I affectionately refer to as “John 3:8ers” i.e., those believers in whom the influence of the unseen Spirit, like a gale-force wind, is powerfully manifest (see this blog’s lead graphic).

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)

No, the Holy Spirit is not caught on camera during these Gaither Homecoming concert tapings! But His presence is clearly seen. In the tears of tenderhearted Homecoming Friends Candy Hemphill Christmas [1-2] and Sheri Easter [3-4]. And in the cannot-stay-seated, fist-pumping cries of Glen Payne [5-6].
