The average life span of any individual is not very long, and therefore the time in which we can do it all is critical. It’s true that time waits for no man; because when we carefully consider everything in perspective; we see that it goes by irrespective of whether we have done what we have supposed to or not. On this note as the year the draws to a close, it’s a painful reminder that time is not on our side.
The starting point is to figure out your purpose because that needs to direct your efforts. The sense of urgency rises towards a specific cause, and I therefore urge you to use this time to clearly define your purpose and calling.
Such things may sound cliché and may be overwhelming for some, but once they have been made clear they make all the difference to your existence. If you are comfortable with where you are, then this piece may not move to any form of change but for those who are tired of going through the motions and really want fulfilment, then this is for you. You are effective when you fulfil your purpose and accomplish the task set for you to do. Each person has a unique mission and therefore be careful that you are not carrying out what was mandated for others and not for you. It’s tragic to come to the end and only to find that you have lived for others and not yourself, carry the burden of fulfilling another’s purpose other than your own.
Your assignments have a limited time span in within which you have fulfil them by, and therefore every minute unused is time wasted. The sad reality with time is that you can never get it back. If you lose money you can accumulate it back through various means, but once time has passed you can never get it back. I’d rather one to waste my money than my time because this present moment will never again be repeated and no matter how hard I try I can never get it back. Time is a precious commodity and we unfortunately live in an age whereby people are not cognisant of that.
As I put pen to paper, I am motivated by a sense of urgency, for there are crucial steps to be taken here and now. Decisions must be made and thus I need to strike whilst the iron is still hot. I realise that I am not getting any younger and life does not get any easier, therefore I am must rise. As the clock ticks so does my time pass by and never to return.
However I am not alone, there are multitudes everywhere with the same dilemma and as you read this piece I know it is also appealing to your sense of urgency. Many have left us too soon; and let their deaths strike chords within our hearts to do justice with the time we have been given. It’s not magic nor an easy feat but the right thing for me, for you and for us. The specifics differ from person to person but the general outline is the same. We can choose to let the days swing by or we can make the most of it, so that we go to the grave empty and not full. In the words of Mercy Me, “Live like there’s no tomorrow, love extravagantly, lead a life to be followed, goodbye ordinary” I think we should go on living.
Don’t waste another minute for now is the time and there will never be a better time than the present to get cracking
