One of the most negative energies we can have through our bodies and spirit is anger, resentment, and downright hatred for others. The negative feelings you have for someone else don’t hurt that person—they hurt you. We have all been hurt. Parents let us down, friends betray us, a spouse cheats, a sibling lies … and, worse, a loved one could be killed.
All these hurtful things allow us to justify our anger towards people and God. We believe we have the right to wish ill will on others because of the harm they caused us. The ability to let go of grudges and wanting revenge is very difficult but doing so sets you on a new free course in your life. Never forget, the law of negative energy is such that it only comes back to you. Without you knowing it, you are making your life worse by not forgiving. Maybe at a fraction of an inch at a time but, in time, all those fractions of inches add up to miles.
Forgiving others brings positive energy to you. Yes, it can be very hard to do because of the pain and problems you endured. But your burden of anger will disappear once you truly forgive them and ask the higher power to do the same. By forgiving, you are not feeling that what had been done to you is acceptable, and you are not welcoming the person who did you harm.
You can still be frustrated and sad over the pain others have caused you but, if you genuinely tell God and the Universe that you forgive this person and wish no ill will on them, and you ask God and the Universe to do the same, you become free.
This also goes for forgiving yourself. We have all done things we regret. Maybe you made decisions that created a detrimental situation to yourself or others. Forgive yourself. Pray to God and confess your mistakes and ask for forgiveness. If you do it genuinely, you are forgiven. Recognize the error you made and make today and tomorrow better. Start new.
Jesus displayed the ultimate forgiveness while on the cross, and he asked his Father in heaven to forgive those who persecuted him because “they know not what they do.” Forgiveness cleanses your inner being, sets you free, and returns happiness into your life. Forgiveness leaves the past in the past and moves you forward. Forgiveness gives you a new life. Forgiveness sets you free to new positive things. Who can you forgive today?
